Walrus is making decentralized data storage better than ever before. As a Sui Ecosystem project, it benefits from Sui’s increasing profile in the industry. Walrus also benefits from being able to store huge chunks of data easily.
The Walrus team is making lots of big moves so far since their testnet launch in October and redeployment in January. All that is leading up to its mainnet launch later this month. Here’s what they’ve been up to.
New Partnerships
First, we have the Super B partnership. With this, people can see how Walrus’ storage helps a social gaming platform fun more effectively and even create, share, and save UGC. That’s user-generated content and one of the future trends of all content online.
@super_b_io x Walrus Protocol – the future of decentralized gaming is here!

Intellectual Property Getting More Important
Then we have Itheum. Here we look at large data sets of intellectual property. In this case, music. Due to Walrus’ specialty with storing blobs and large datasets, Itheum is using it to store and access entire music catalogs. There are potentially huge ramifications here for royalty payments or tokenizing of songs and catalogs for the sale of publishing rights.
Itheum x Walrus = AI & music data economies leveled up
@itheum is integrating Walrus to store & trade large datasets — think entire music catalogs, AI models, & training data — onchain.

With 3DOS, Walrus shows again how its work with large chunks of data is beneficial. As an OS for 3-D printing, 3DOS has lots of CAD designs and other product and architectural drawings. These are big files. This partnership will make them easily searchable, usable, and for 3DOS easier to sell.
The blob army grows!

An RWA Partner
The diversity of types of partners we see continues. This time an RWA project. Plume is partnering with Walrus to ensure accurate data for its TradFi and DeFi users. Another great partnership.
RWA + Move = The Future@PlumeNetwork has chosen @WalrusProtocol to provide secure, programmable storage for all applicable apps in its ecosystem, ensuring verified asset data for TradFi & DeFi.

And while not a formal partnership, it’s clear the community is onboard with what Walrus is doing. In a very short time, they just passed 500k followers on X. We rarely talk about these types of vanity metrics but it is a sign that there is alignment and good feelings between the project and its community. That’s the important part.
Walrus is making lots of big moves. And they all seem to be big steps forward that advance the project. The community thinks so too. The mainnet is coming later this month. And this is why the $WAL token launch is going to be one of the most highly-anticipated launches of the year.
