The London-based digital bank has announced plans to integrate Bitcoin’s Lightning Network into its platform. This will be available for users in the U.K. and select European countries.
Partnering with Lightspark, Revolut aims to deliver faster, cheaper crypto payments across borders. This move underscores a growing trend in fintech: embracing blockchain-based infrastructure to modernize financial services. This is massive news for Bitcoin Lightning Payments.
Cheaper, Faster Bitcoin Transactions
Unlike traditional Bitcoin transactions, which can be slow and costly due to network congestion, Lightning allows near-instant, low-fee payments by settling transactions off-chain. Lightspark’s infrastructure will power this capability, connecting Revolut users to what it calls the “Money Grid”—a decentralized payment network built for real-time global transactions.

“We’re always looking to make financial services faster and more affordable,” said Emil Urmanshin, general manager of crypto at Revolut. “Integrating with Lightspark is a natural step.” The company has not yet provided an official launch date for the new feature, but the intention is clear: to offer seamless Bitcoin transfers that rival the speed and cost-efficiency of traditional payment systems.
