Ledger, a hardware wallet provider, has confirmed that its Discord server is safe for users, following a recent security threat on its Discord.
Ledger’s Discord came under threat on May 11 after malicious attackers hacked Ledger’s contractor moderator’s handle and raised a false security alarm to trick Ledger users into sharing their seed phrases on a third-party site.
The hacker falsely claimed Ledger had discovered a vulnerability in its security system and urged users to verify their seed phrases using a scam link posted. As of this writing, it is not clear if any user fell victim to the hack.

Ledger Provides Update
In an update, Ledger noted that “The issue was quickly contained: the compromised account was removed, the bot was deleted, the website was reported, and all relevant permissions were reviewed and secured.”
The wallet provider also noted that it has strengthened its security measures to prevent similar occurrences. Some users slammed Ledger for its delayed response. However, other Discord users noted that the attacker muted and banned some accounts. This prevented them from promptly reporting the compromised account.
The incident isn’t the first time Ledger users have faced security threats in recent months. In April, fraudsters sent physical mail to Ledger users, urging them to verify their seed phrases. Interestingly, the fraudsters sought to establish legitimacy by adding Ledger’s logo and official address to the mail.
