Its affiliate Gemini Titan secured a Designated Contract Market license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
This approval gives Gemini permission to offer prediction markets to U.S. customers for the first time.
Why Prediction Markets Matter
It also closes a long five year journey that began when Gemini first applied for this license in March 2020. CEO Tyler Winklevoss called the approval a fresh start for the company and a sign that U.S. regulators may be ready to support new ideas in the digital asset space.

Prediction markets allow people to trade simple yes or no contracts tied to future events. These contracts settle based on whether the event happens. For beginners, you can think of them as a public scoreboard of expectations. A question like “Will bitcoin finish this year above 200 thousand dollars?” becomes a live market where traders show what they believe in real time.
We’ve just received a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license from the @CFTC which will allow Gemini to begin offering prediction markets to U.S. customers.

These markets gained attention this year as trading volumes surged around the U.S. election. On November 5, event trading topped one hundred ninety million dollars in a single day across major platforms. That number shows a growing interest in tools that help people measure probability in a clear way. Gemini wants to capture that momentum and bring it into a regulated environment. Cameron Winklevoss said the CFTC’s support reflects a belief that the United States can lead this sector if regulators give companies room to build.
