These lightweight, web3-native experiences are built directly into the wallet. No need to download anything. Just tap, and you’re in.
Mini apps from the Coinbase wallet aim to simplify how people interact with decentralized applications. From trading tokens to exploring NFTs or participating in DeFi.
Onchain Apps Without the Friction
Mini apps live inside the Coinbase Wallet and show up across three main locations: the user feed, the apps tab, and direct messages. Rather than directing users to an external dApp browser or third-party site, Coinbase brings the experience directly into the app.
Think of it like Apple’s App Clips or Android’s Instant Apps, but for crypto. You don’t need to install a full application or leave the wallet to use a Mini app. Tap a listing in your feed or a shared link in a message, and the onchain experience launches instantly. For example, a user might see a friend share a link to mint an NFT. Instead of bouncing out to a new site, the minting process happens right there in the wallet.
Now in the Coinbase Wallet limited beta: Mini apps.

This approach reflects a growing trend across crypto: making wallets not just storage tools but gateways to richer web3 experiences. Other wallets like Phantom and Zerion have begun rolling out similar features, recognizing that better UX is key to broader adoption.
A New Era of Wallet Utility
Traditionally, wallets have been about holding tokens, sending crypto, and checking balances. Now they’re becoming full-featured platforms, capable of hosting marketplaces, games, and tools—all powered by blockchain.
The launch also comes at a time when consumer interest in onchain activity is rebounding. According to DappRadar, unique active wallets interacting with dApps rose over 40% in Q1-2025. On the other hand, developers will also benefit from this rollout. Mini apps can reach users where they are and reduce the steps needed to access new protocols. With Coinbase’s brand trust and large user base, that could accelerate adoption across the board.
