Another major scam, Aquabot Rug, is shaking up the crypto space. The Team behind the project disappeared with a massive 21,770 SOL, worth about $4.65 million, right before its token launch.
Many had been waiting for the project’s token generation event (TGE), only to watch their funds vanish as the Team pulled the Aquabot rug.
The Rug Pull Explained
The drama began when on-chain investigator ZachXBT noticed suspicious activity. He reported that Aquabot’s presale wallet moved all 21,770 SOL through several wallets. The funds were then sent to instant exchanges, a common scam tactic to cover tracks.
Right after the exposure, Aquabot cut off community communication by disabling replies on all X posts. This move only fuelled suspicions that a rug pull had taken place.
Investors had already started feeling uneasy before the hack. First, Aquabot had pledged that there would be zero vesting. Investors would receive their tokens immediately at the start. Before the TGE, the Team added vesting conditions that some considered a trap for buyers.

Adding to the chaos, well-known teams and influencers, including Meteora, Quill Audits, Helius, SYMMIO, and Dialect, had promoted the project. Critics now blame these projects for supporting a project that turned out to be a scam.
Lessons for the Solana Community
The Aquabot rug is a breach of trust in the Solana ecosystem. It indicates the significance of studying strategies prior to committing to presales. You can’t substitute transparency and accountability for hype and flashy marketing.
So many teams promoted this project.
Wonder why 21.77K SOL ($4.65M) raised was split up four ways and laundered away via multiple instant exchanges a few hours ago.

Crypto investors will remember the Aquabot rug as another costly lesson. Always do a background check and question the changes made at the last minute. Do not trust influencer endorsements alone before leaping into a new project. In crypto, securing your money makes it a wise move to be vigilant since any such scam can hit with every passing second.
