On October 20th, only a little more than a week ago, Amazon Web Services (AWS) suffered a huge global outage. Not only were sites like Amazon, Pinterest, Reddit, and Venmo down, but sites all over the web. AWS has over 30% of the entire cloud computing market including many websites and web apps people use every day. And it’s a reminder of the danger of centralized control of cloud data. That’s what decentralized storage protocols like Walrus want us to remember.
Yesterday, AWS suffered a region-wide failure. Tens of thousands of services went offline.
Yet @AlkimiExchange, @TalusNetwork, @Claynosaurz, and @_deeptrade didn’t suffer this fate because they built on @WalrusProtocol.

And it’s an important lesson. The more of your most important data you save with the big 3 (AWS, Google, and Microsoft), the more control they have over you and that data. Walrus is thinking about storage another way. In ways where YOU are in control. The Walrus team has been busy this month, so let’s see what’s new.
Big New Clients Joining Walrus
By the way, even some crypto exchanges and crypto apps that say they are decentralized use AWS. And they were down too.
Some of big clients joining the Walrus mission for decentralized data storage in your control include:
- Humanity Protocol
- T Book
- Quilt
- and more.
With Humanity Protocol, we have a decentralized ID network that was using IPFS (Filecoin) and migrated over to Walrus. The team must think Walrus is a better solution to make such a big move with millions of verified credentials in their network. Plus, Walrus has some privacy elements and great access control with Seal.
🦭 @Humanityprot is coming to Walrus!
The decentralized identity network backed by Pantera and Jump is migrating from IPFS to Walrus – bringing 10M+ verified credentials onchain and into the Sui ecosystem.

And with T Book, their system of on-chain reputation works seamlessly across Sui thanks to Walrus. T Book will allow for greater interaction and rewards between projects and real users in their communities. A real win/win/win.
Walrus now powers @realtbook’s onchain reputation system on @SuiNetwork.
By storing and verifying credit score attestations, Walrus makes user reputation data verifiable, portable, and composable – unlocking trust-based apps and new DeFi markets. https://t.co/dnTkxCQWCE

With Quilt, users are saving money on Walrus by being able to bundle many small files together into a system with easy access, using less storage space, more efficiency and lower costs. Again, it’s a win for everyone.
Price Action
As I write this, the market is down 4% today and Walrus is no exception. The $WAL token is down by 5.5% at 21.3 cents, per CoinGecko. In this busy month, where Walrus has gotten some big new clients, the project is down for the month. That means a quality project like this is on sale.
In fact, you can get in now at a better price than its March TGE. So it’s still early. Plus, Walrus is getting a Spot trading listing on Binance. That’s often a sign of better, easier access to buy and sell the token and typically leads to higher prices. While this is no longer 100% true as it was in the past, it’s still very bullish for a project of this quality to be available to nearly anyone who wants it now, with ease. Walrus is widely available on Binance, many other exchanges, and DEXes within the Sui ecosystem.
