It’s hard to think of a faster-growing ecosystem right now than Sui. And one of its top projects is Walrus. Walrus is the home for decentralized data storage on Sui. Mysten Labs, the same team behind Sui, has been busy with tons of updates and new services for Walrus.
Here is what Walrus has been up to lately.
Programmable Privacy
With the full launch of Seal, working together with Walrus, you can now store, access, encrypt, and retain access control over sets of data. This can be AI models or medical or financial records, or any sensitive data that a company may need but that you wouldn’t want to see out in public.
Walrus is now the first decentralized data platform with onchain access control.
With Seal live on Sui Mainnet, developers can store, encrypt, and control access to data – all onchain, all decentralized.

Walrus calls it programmable privacy. And we like the name because you retain control over the access to your data. Medical records are a good example. You can release certain parts of your medical records to a specialist for a surgical consult. But do they need access to all of your medical records all the time? No. They don’t. With Seal, you can restrict how long the specialist has access to say, 48 hours, and then it reverts back to being private and accessible only to you. This is one of MANY potential use cases for programmable privacy.
New Partnerships
Walrus is getting lots of new clients and partners now, too. It’s hard to keep track of them all. But here are a couple of the more interesting ones we’ve found.
Zarklab is helping content creators with its AI intelligence tools. And for faster, better APIs, and more searchable files, they are partnering with Walrus to make this a better experience for their creator customers.
Staying in content, Everlyn.ai is partnering with Walrus, too. Everlyn is a video platform that transforms images into video. We are going to be seeing a lot more of this on Walrus since AI models like Deepseek as well as wrappers and AI apps like Everlyn can store and manage their entire model on Walrus. Plus, with the access control from Seal, it allows limited access to free tier customers and full access to paying subscribers.

This is pretty cool. From the start, Walrus has been about building with and for its community. So now, until October 10th, is a contest where you can win part of a 2000 $WAL prize pool. The top 5 winners get it. And to earn it, all you have to do is fill out a submission form telling the Walrus team what they should build out next on the platform. That’s it. Just submit your idea, and you can win. Follow the tweet above for where to send in your submissions.
Conclusion
Walrus Protocol is making all the right moves to become the decentralized storage leader not just on Sui, but for the entire industry. Its capacity to store, manage, keep private, and access large amounts of data make it ideal for decentralized AI, machine learning, and other industries reliant on the manipulation and access to data.
Meanwhile, it’s still a good time to get in and buy some $WAL for your portfolio, if you like what you’ve seen and heard so far. The current price is 39c and we see it challenging its all-time high of 75.9 cents very soon. Walrus looks like it’s doing everything right. Yet, it’s still a good buying opportunity. The market will catch on soon enough, and you can cash in on some gains by then.
