The partnership, announced May 12, 2025, will allow Brave’s 60+ million users to trade Cardano-native tokens. All of this can be done without leaving the privacy-focused browser.
This marks a big step toward better Web3 interoperability, privacy, and user control. Once the integration goes live, Cardano users will gain access to on-chain governance. They’ll also be able to interact with native tokens directly within Brave’s built-in wallet.
Cardano Meets the Privacy Web
The integration makes Brave Wallet one of the few browser-native wallets to support Cardano’s full functionality. Cardano holders will be able to manage native assets like $NIGHT, sign transactions, and participate in on-chain governance—all embedded within the Brave browser.
“Our partnership with IO reflects Brave’s commitment to building a Web3 that maximizes interoperability for user choice,” said Brendan Eich, CEO of Brave. “Integrating Cardano not only expands multi-chain access but also enhances security, governance, and the user experience.”

This move mirrors a growing trend among wallets and platforms aiming to unify multiple blockchains under one interface. Phantom recently added Ethereum support, and MetaMask continues to expand its multi-chain toolkit. By adding Cardano, Brave is further solidifying its place in the competitive Web3 wallet race.
Privacy, Governance, and What Comes Next
For IO, the integration marks more than just a technical milestone. “We share a vision for a more secure, accessible, and user-respecting Web3,” said Charles Hoskinson, CEO of IO. “By bringing Cardano into Brave Wallet, we’re setting a new standard for blockchain usability and privacy.”
The partnership could also open doors for Brave to support Midnight, IO’s sidechain for confidential smart contracts. Midnight is being developed by Shielded Technologies, a spinout focused on data protection and private dApps.
With the Brave Wallet already supporting Ethereum and Solana, adding Cardano is a clear signal that mainstream browser wallets are evolving from simple storage tools to full-fledged gateways to decentralized ecosystems.
